In 2006, we started with a simple but audacious belief; young Africans are not just the leaders of tomorrow but the drivers of today. Twenty years later, The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) has honoured hundreds of bold thinkers, builders, creators, and activists shaping this continent.

2026 marks the 20th anniversary of TFAA. We won’t be celebrating just the past, we will be building the future with clarity and intention.

The Future Is Right in Front of You

For nearly two decades, TFAA spotlighted exceptional young Africans on a continental stage. We have amplified local voices and national icons.

But transformation does not begin on a stage.

It begins in communities. In classrooms. In local enterprises. In local government areas and villages.

This year, we are intentionally shifting the lens to where impact truly starts.

Introducing: The Future Awards Africa Independent (TFAAi)

TFAAi is a bold expansion of the TFAA legacy. It recognises and celebrates changemakers making measurable impact at the state level.

While TFAA will continue to honour continental giants, TFAAi focuses on homegrown heroes — the innovators, leaders, and creators strengthening their communities every day. This initiative deepens our grassroots reach and ensures that excellence is not overlooked simply because it is local.

For our pilot year, we are activating in four powerful hubs:
