Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi

Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi is a Nigerian entrepreneur, media personality, and former broadcaster, renowned for her impactful presence in the entertainment and fashion industries. She is the co-founder and co-executive producer of TNC Africa, a digital-focused TV and film production company, and the Group Vice President of Marketing at Wakanow Group.

With a rich career spanning over a decade, Gbemi’s journey in media began at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA 2 Channel 5) as a member of the youth corp, before she transitioned to radio at Cool FM Nigeria in 2005. She quickly made a name for herself, co-hosting the Good Morning Nigeria show with the late Dan Foster and later hosting the Midday Oasis. In 2009, she moved to The Beat 99.9 FM, where she served as Deputy Program Director from 2011 to 2016 and Program Director at Naija FM 102.7 from 2011 to 2017. Gbemi’s influence in radio earned her the On-Air Personality of the Year award at The Future Awards Africa in 2008.

Beyond radio, Gbemi is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for solving real-world problems. In 2015, she founded Gbemisoke Shoes, a shoe line designed specifically for women who struggle to find the right shoe sizes. Her entrepreneurial spirit and fashion acumen have also seen her grace the runway, notably at the Arise Fashion Week in Lagos in 2018 for FIA Factory.

Gbemi has also made strides in the film industry, debuting in the 2017 web series Our Best Friend’s Wedding and later starring in the short film Heaven Baby in 2020. In 2021, after leaving her long-standing radio career, she joined forces with Olawale Adetula and Daniel Aideyan to launch TNC Africa, where she now plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital entertainment in Africa.

In 2023, Gbemi concluded her tenure as the Group VP of Marketing at Wakanow Group, where she had been instrumental in overseeing and developing marketing strategies for brands such as Wakanow and Kalabash. Her leadership and strategic vision significantly contributed to the company’s growth and innovation during her time there. She is currently the co-host of the “Off Air Show ” a syndicated TV Show on Africa Magic. Gbemi’s role on the show highlights her versatility and continued influence in media, where her experience and charisma contribute to the program’s success and its appeal to a diverse audience across the continent.
