
Omoyemi Akerele
Omoyemi Akerele is a Nigerian entrepreneur, executive, and businesswoman, renowned for her pivotal role in advancing the African fashion industry. As the founder and CEO of Lagos Fashion Week and Style House Files, Akerele has significantly shaped the landscape of Nigerian and African fashion. Her work emphasises sustainability, craftsmanship, and expanding the global footprint of African fashion.
Akerele’s journey began with a strong foundation in law, earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Lagos and a Master’s in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick. After starting her career at Olaniwun Ajayi & Co., she transitioned to fashion in 2004, co-founding Exclusive Styling, where she styled celebrities for major TV shows like Big Brother and Idols West Africa.
Akerele serves as a special advisor to the NEPC and holds advisory roles with international institutions like MoMA and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Her advocacy for African fashion has earned her recognition, including being named Nigeria’s Zero Oil Ambassador in 2021.
Her influence extends globally, with her insights shared at prestigious platforms like the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, Conde Nast International Luxury Conference, and Business of Fashion Voices. Akerele continues to be a driving force in promoting African fashion on the world stage.
